OPPORTUNITY: THE GATHERING 2023 PERFORMER OPEN CALL

The Touring Network is currently inviting applications from professional performers for The Gathering 2023 held in Birnam and Dunkeld on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th of October. This is a unique opportunity for tour-ready performers to perform to a crowd consisting of promoters, venue representatives, funders, and creative professionals from the region and beyond.

The ideal candidates should be:

  • Tour-ready
  • Available to perform on Wed 4 or Thu 5 October 2023
  • Available for a Highlands & Islands tour in 2024 or 2025

This year’s The Gathering will be hosted at two venues – Birnam Arts and The Taybank. Selected performers will have the chance to present a 15-minute, low-tech excerpt of their small-scale work, allowing attendees to witness their tour-ready performances in a close-knit setting.

Successful showcase candidates will receive the following:

  • A pass to attend The Gathering
  • Pre-event technical support from our Showcase Stage Manager
  • Access to a green room before and after your performance slot
  • 15-minute showcase slot, with a personal introduction from someone in The Touring Network
  • A further five minutes to pitch your show or take questions from the audience
  • A Tourbook profile displayed to all attendees via our website
  • Opportunity to network with promoters and venue representatives throughout the programme
  • Showcase fee to cover costs

While The Touring Network doesn’t guarantee tour bookings or funds as a direct result of the showcase, historical data reveals that a substantial percentage (83%) of performers from The Gathering 2018 have since toured the region.

For performers who are still honing their craft, there’s an alternative opportunity to share their work in a more casual setting. More details will be announced via The Touring Network soon.

Deadline: 12pm Monday 17th July.
