Registered SMIA Member Information:When you join the SMIA as a member, we will collect personal information from you, such as your name, email address, job title, company of work and location. We use your contact information to send you essential membership communications regarding our services, projects and events, and we may request to display your details on a Scottish Music Industry Database available on our website; publicly listing SMIA members across varying industry sub-sectors and geographical locations. Upon joining, you will also have the choice to opt in to receive marketing communications from SMIA partners. You may unsubscribe from receiving certain types of emails by clicking ‘Unsubscribe’ on email correspondence from us, although the SMIA reserves the right to contact you when we believe it is necessary, such as for administrative and account management purposes. Should you no longer wish to receive any communications from the SMIA, you will need to cancel your membership by emailing
info@smia.org.uk.
Note regarding children: We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information of a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information from our files as soon as possible.
Website User Information:If you are visiting the SMIA website but you are not an SMIA member, some of our services and resources will require you to join the SMIA ( therefore providing us with information about you) and login using your membership details before access is granted. The information we ask you to provide us with is for internal use only unless otherwise requested. Should you consent to being listed on our Scottish Music Industry Database and later want to be removed from this list, you can email info@smia.org.uk and we will remove your information as soon as possible.The SMIA website runs on WordPress and uses two plug-ins by Cozmolabs (‘Profile Builder’ and ‘Paid Member Subscriptions Pro’) as membership management software. WordPress and Cozmolabs are “cloud” software, meaning they run through a web browser without needing to install anything on your local computer. This database exists to provide Core SMIA members access to relevant information for other music business practitioners who they may wish to contact regarding business opportunities. Should you consent to becoming part of our database and later want to be removed, you can email info@smia.org.uk and we will remove your information as soon as possible.As part of the SMIA’s services, we conduct research on and for the Scottish music industry. Where We Send Your DataThe SMIA uses cloud based software Dropbox,Google Drive and Pipedrive to store all company data. The SMIA uses Mailchimp for sending membership communications.
