Live events industry body moves #WeMakeEvents campaign into ‘Red Alert’ to save UK events

The live events industry has issued a Red Alert call to action to locations throughout the UK as part of the #WeMakeEvents campaign to support the industry through the COVID-19 global pandemic.

On Tuesday 11th August at 9pm, the campaign is asking companies and event locations throughout the UK to join #WeMakeEvents in lighting their building or structure in red in order to draw attention to the dramatic situation facing the industry.

Red Alert is being co-ordinated by the Professional Lighting and Sound Association (PLASA) to raise public and media awareness in support of the live events sector which employs circa 1,000,000 highly skilled people in the UK, all of whom have had no work for the past four months with little likelihood of restarting until Spring 2021.

PLASA launched the #WeMakeEvents campaign in order to raise awareness around the fact that the events sector urgently needs more support to survive the Covid-19 crisis.

Many of the leading live events trade bodies and businesses across the UK have joined together to bring attention to the dire straits the live events industry and its entire supply chain is facing; the sector includes manufacturers, audio, lighting and video specialists, logistics, transportation, rigging and many more.
