SMIA Workshops: Funding Your Music Business

As part of the SMIA’s innovation-led development programme, designed to help nurture business talent and build infrastructure in Scotland’s music industry, we will be hosting our first free entry workshop of the year on Creating Engaging Online Content for Music Projects at citizenM (Screening Room) in Glasgow, taking place on Monday 28th January from 2pm – 5pm.

About the Workshop

Loads of ideas but don’t know where to find the support to make them happen? This workshop will give you an insight into the world of funding, dispelling some of the assumptions and myths and learning where to find help and support in developing your projects. We’ll look at where and how to identify funding for your projects, how to communicate your idea and project effectively to potential funders, partners and more.

Jennifer McGlone has been working in the creative sector for almost 20 years as a musician, promoter, tour manager, agent development officer, consultant, fundraiser, and project manager. She has worked across the UK promoting and showcasing Scottish music, and worked at Scottish Arts Council Creative Scotland for almost 7 years as part of the Music Team and managing funding for the Youth Music Initiative, CashBack for Creativity and Trad Arts. In 2015, she took the leap back into the freelance world to work on her events management and consultancy company Glow Arts, mainly supporting individuals and organisations in developing projects and applying for funding. She has continued to work on a freelance external assessor capacity with Creative Scotland and Scottish Music Centre.

We look forward to seeing you there!
