SMIA Open Letter to BBC Radio Scotland

Today we have published an open letter to BBC Radio Scotland on behalf of our +6,000 members, raising serious concerns about the decision to remove four longstanding late-night music programmes – The Iain Anderson Show, Roddy Hart, Billy Sloan, and Natasha Raskin Sharp.

Together, these programmes have played a vital role in supporting Scottish artists, nurturing emerging talent and reflecting the depth and diversity of Scotland’s musical landscape. Their removal would create a significant gap in national music discovery and development, with no clear alternative in place.

The SMIA is calling for a pause to these changes, meaningful consultation with the sector and a clear strategy for how BBC Radio Scotland will continue to meet its public service remit for Scottish music.
