OPPORTUNITY: CULTURE EDINBURGH DIVERSITY & INCLUSION FUND

The Culture Ediburgh Diversity and Inclusion Fund has been introduced as an innovative grant aimed at amplifying and elevating the voices, art, and narratives of ethnically diverse artists and creatives in Edinburgh. Its commitment is towards nurturing a richer and more inclusive arts and culture environment within the city.

 

Purpose of the Funds

  • Support for ethnically diverse narratives and arts.
  • Development of multi-art form collaborations encapsulating varied creative expressions.
  • Encouragement of collaborations between ethnically diverse artists, creatives, and cultural organisations in Edinburgh.
  • Amplification of Edinburgh’s cultural richness through art, dialogue, and active engagement.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Culture Edinburgh invites applications from ethnically diverse artists and creatives and organisations that meet two or more of the following criteria:

    • they recognise the need for greater representation and visibility of ethnically diverse work and narratives in the arts, culture and heritage sector;
    • they have a clear vision for their joint project, its outcomes and learning;
    • they present a mutually beneficial partnership / collaborative working model;
    • they commit to continuing and /or increasing engagement with groups and communities often underrepresented in the arts and culture sector;
    • they explain how this project is relevant to Edinburgh’s cultural tapestry;
    • they consider how the project creates further opportunities for development and / or engagement.

 

Application & Awarding Sequence

  • Stage 1: Completion of the application form obtainable from the Council’s Consultation Hub.
  • Stage 2: Prioritisation of projects that champion partnerships, employ multi-art forms, and mirror Edinburgh’s diverse cultural backdrop.
  • Stage 3: Selected candidates will be endowed with grants to further their project ambitions.

 

Fund Allocation

  • Individual artists may be awarded up to £5,000.
  • Organisations have the opportunity to obtain up to £7,500.
  • The overall budget earmarked for this initiative is £70,000.
