After this year’s fantastic return to live music-making, 2023 will be a year of exploration as the NYOS continue to review and respond to the findings from their Soundings consultation. While this process is ongoing, they have announced some changes to their classical pathway: in 2023 a NYOS Development Orchestra will replace Junior and Senior Orchestras, the upper age limit for Symphony Orchestra applications is lowered to 22 years old and courses will be slightly longer.
Their ambition is to ensure that NYOS remains relevant, responsive, accessible and inclusive. They will continue to provide the best orchestral education and performance opportunities for young musicians living and studying in Scotland, as well as those with Scottish connections based further afield. In response to feedback from the NYOS community, their 2023 courses will be slightly longer than in recent years as they seek to offer the very best musical opportunities and create a relaxed, focused, and fun learning environment in which aspiring young musicians can learn from world-class tutors, work alongside renowned soloists and play under the baton of some of the most eminent conductors in the industry.
