The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland (NYOS) has been nurturing Scotland’s talented young musicians for over 40 years, providing them with opportunities to experiment, learn, develop, work as a team and play – as well as perform to a professional standard.
Despite the challenges to live performance and communal playing caused by the pandemic, there are plenty of causes for optimism and celebration here. And, as CEO, you’ll provide the strategic plan NYOS need for post-pandemic recovery.
With responsibilities ranging from governance and organisational planning to delivery of the artistic programme, you’ll need to work closely with the NYOS Board and freelance Artistic Directors, as well as leading and supporting the NYOS team. You’ll also foster critical relationships with Creative Scotland, youth organisations and national companies.
NYOS seek a candidate with considerable people, budget and resource management experience in an Arts, Music or Educational organisation. And, whilst an understanding of artistic direction and programming is key, NYOS are even more interested in your ability to oversee the strategic and business aspects of the organisation, and ensure it is resilient in the face of future challenges. A talent for creative thinking and financial planning, as well as a genuine passion for the UK and world-wide music scene, will be absolutely essential.
