Call for entries: Young Musician & Young Song Writer Awards

The Liam Colgan Music Fund, in association with the John Preston Memorial Fund, has launched two annual open awards for young musicians in the Highlands & Islands aged between 16 and 30 years, including senior school pupils and students in further or higher education.

The purpose of the Liam Colgan Music Fund’s John Preston Open Awards 2021 is to support and encourage the development of musical ability and excellence in performing and song writing.

Applicants for the Young Musician 2021 award will be invited to submit a recorded performance for consideration by a professional panel.

Finalists of the Young Musician 2021 award and the recipient of the Young Song Writer 2021 award will be invited to perform at a live event in February 2022.

Young Musician 2021

To be presented to the young musician (instrumentalist or singer) residing or studying in the Highlands and Islands in recognition of their outstanding performances.

Award: £500

Young Song Writer 2021

To be presented to the young song writer(s) residing or studying in the Highlands and Islands who has (have) written the best original, unpublished song.
