Apply for a Postgraduate Award with Help Musicians

Help Musicians’ Postgraduate Awards are currently open for applications. 

Help Musicians has supported the costs of music education since our founding in 1921. Apart from during the outbreak of World War 2, they have given awards to UK conservatoire students for nearly 100 years.  

Previous winners of these awards include Help Musicians’ President and percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, trumpeter Alison Balsom OBE, violinist, vocalist and composer Alice Zawadzki, guitarist Miloš Karadaglic and pianist and Help Musicians’ Ambassador Isata Kanneh-Mason.   

Students who wish to study musical performance can apply for financial support of up to £5,000 towards study and living costs for the next academic year (2022/2023). 

The postgraduate awards are open to students who are studying music performance at Postgraduate level (ie. Mmus, MA, PGDip, Artist Diploma) at one of the following UK conservatoires or performing arts colleges: 

  • Guildhall School of Music and Drama 
  • Leeds Conservatoire 
  • Royal Academy of Music 
  • Royal Birmingham Conservatoire 
  • Royal College of Music 
  • Royal Conservatoire of Scotland 
  • Royal Northern College of Music 
  • Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama 
  • Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance 
  • National Opera Studio (répétiteurs only)
