Musicians’ Union urges Chancellor to implement insurance scheme for summer festivals

The Musicians’ Union (MU) have called on the Chancellor to #InvestInMusicians and introduce an insurance scheme for summer festivals and other events.

The MU are also calling on Government to:

1. Adjust SEISS to ensure that all musicians are covered in future rounds of funding

2. Open up the next round of the Cultural Recovery Fund (CRF) to freelancers in England – in line with Scotland and Wales

3. Introduce an insurance scheme for summer festivals and other events

4. A subsidy for live events to happen with reduced capacity under social distancing

The Treasury must also ensure that SEISS and furlough provide workers with an equal level of support, and speed up the SEISS process.
