The Music Education Partnership Group (MEPG) have launched The Scottish Instrumental Music Teaching Network (SIMTN) to support the needs of all those who deliver instrumental music teaching and provision across Scotland.
SIMTN was developed though a MEPG working group formed from a wide range of Arts Professionals directly involved in Instrumental Music Education across the length and breadth of Scotland representing the various disciplines and sectors. The working group meets regularly to shape SIMTN’s programme of events based on feedback and needs of its members.
Throughout lockdown the MEPG has been facilitating events, offering free training sessions and mentoring to support instrumental music teachers and freelance musicians in the delivery of online tuition.
Throughout these sessions it has become apparent that there is a real appetite for more of this type of support, but there is also a need to create and develop a network for Scotland’s instrumental music teaching sector to open communication lines, share best practice and resources, and celebrate the fantastic work already taking place across the country.
