Chamber Music Scotland are running free workshops centered around amplifying marginalised voices within classical music and increasing diversity in programming. The workshops will be presented by Uchenna Ngwe and will be held online at the end of January 2021.
If your #ChamberEnsemble is interested in applying for our 2022 Scottish Tour, we’ve gathered some resources on diversity in classical programming from @ComposerProject @MBComposers and @CMA_Tweets that will help with your application: https://t.co/ghvIitOKPZ @CreativeScots pic.twitter.com/UVTbICfiZ4

Workshop 1: Researching and Developing Diverse Classical Music
Friday 22nd January 2021
This workshop will explore how musicians and music programmers can use research as part of their creative practice, while exploring and amplifying marginalised voices in classical music. Following Workshop 1, participants will be given a self-directed research task to bring to Workshop 2.
Workshop 2: Creating Diverse Chamber Music Programmes
Friday 29th January 2021
This workshop will focus on questions of diversity in classical music programming and identifying suitable repertoire for chamber groups.
Chamber Music Scotland are also calling for applications from chamber ensembles to present a four-concert tour to their Scottish chamber music promoter network, performing a programme of music written by composers who have been historically underrepresented in classical music.
The music can be originally written for your ensemble’s specific instrumentation or arranged to suit, and your programme can also include new works. Applications from Scotland-based chamber music ensembles or soloists will also be accepted.
This is a paid opportunity. Due to Coronavirus restrictions, the tour will take place during Spring 2022, and specific dates will be discussed after the ensemble is chosen.
