The MOBO Tour 2012 - Feb 25 Glasgow – The Mitchell Library/ArtSchool Union/The Garage
The SMIA & Hear Glasgow! have teamed up with Urban Development & DF Concerts to present a whole day and nights events in Glasgow on Saturday 25 February 2012 as part of the UK MOBO Tour 2012.
The day will consist of an afternoon of workshops & seminars, The MOBO Academy ‘Industry Takeover’; an open Mic/MC battle and an evening concert featuring both local artists and MOBO Tour artists.
The MOBO Academy Industry Takeover will feature experts from well respected organisations including SB.TV, RWD Magazine, PRS for Music Foundation, DF Concerts, artists on the MOBO Tour alongside luminaries from the Scottish scene including Andy Rankin (ABAGA Records), Profisee, Fly T (Capitol 1212), Hector Bizerk, Laura McCrum, Rachel Grimes and Muslim Alim (BBC Radio 1). They will all be sharing their insider industry knowledge, answering questions and offering advice to the next generation of talent from across Scotland. And all for FREE.
This free tour is set to travel to eight cities across the UK, offering audiences the opportunity to see some of 2012’s freshest, new, emerging talent on stage and attend industry workshops and seminars (via Industry Takeover @ MOBO Academy). It’s also a chance for undiscovered talent right across the country to get involved in the MOBO Unsung competition. Thanks to funding from Arts Council England and PRS for Music Foundation all of this will be provided for FREE.
OPEN MIC / MC BATTLE
After the talking is done the music starts with an hour long Open Mic / MC battle at Glasgow Art School’s Union on Sauchiehall Street at 5.15 pm hosted by Hector Bizerk.
MOBO TOUR CONCERT
This will be followed by the MOBO Tour concert presented by DF Concerts. The first names to be announced are breakthrough MC Lady Leshurr (tipped to do big things in 2012 by RWD Magazine and itunes) and MTV Brand New pick for 2012, seven piece hip-hop-rock collective Clement Marfo & The Frontline (pictured above) with further names to be added.
The MOBO Tour 2012 is a partnership between MOBO, Urban Development, SJM Concerts, PRS for Music Foundation and Arts Council England. The Glasgow events are being delivered by SMIA, Hear Glasgow, Urban Development and DF Concerts.
The MOBO Tour, seminars and workshops all highlight partners’ efforts to support, guide and nurture new and developing talent across the UK.

BEATS, RHYMES & LIFE
As part of Glasgow Film Festival (which is on while the the MOBO tour is in Glasgow) there will be two screenings of Beats, Rhymes and Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest on Wednesday 22 and Saturday 25th February.
